AEO (Authorized Economic Operator)
After the attacks in New York on September 11, 2001, the focus on safety has grown into strict safety rules for international traffic.
These stricter rules apply to individuals and companies. When traveling, for example, no liquids or aerosol cans may be taken on the plane.
Stricter rules now also apply to businesses. These rules stipulate that companies that operate internationally can be more strictly checked by customs at a border crossing, which can take extra time.
The European Union introduced the AEO certificate September 2007.
Companies that meet the conditions of such a certificate are less strictly controlled, they spend less time in illegal trade. With an AEO certificate, customs has checked whether a company is reliable.
